Pat Cummins Latest News | T20 World Cup 2024

Pat Cummins, Australia’s ODI World Cup winning captain, had a new task on Thursday, June 6, during the match against Oman, when he carried beverages for his teammates in Barbados. Cummins, who is not captaining Australia in this T20 World Cup 2024, was not chosen for the game because Nathan Ellis was preferred.

Despite sitting outside and watching the match from the Players’ change room, Cummins presented his dedication to his team by carrying water to his colleagues and delivering a few critical words during the break. Cricket Australia had appointed Mitchell Marsh to captain Australia in this mega event who won their match against Oman by 39 runs, kicking off their campaign on a high.

Mitchell Marsh did not share any specific reason for Pat Cummins’ absence from playing 11, but the senior pacer was most likely rested for the first Group B encounter as he just directly joined the team coming from India after finishing IPL 2024 where his team Sunrisers Hyderabad finished this year’s season as a runner-up as they lost the Championship match from Kolkata Knight Riders. Cummins was captaining Sunrisers Hyderabad in this IPL. It was a successful run for him as in 16 matches he took 16 wickets and scored 136 runs with the bat while his teaming finished as a runner-up.

He also did not play any warm-up matches against Namibia and the West Indies in preparation for the tournament earlier this month. But the experince and winning ability Cummins carries, most probably he will part of Playing 11 for Australia’s next important match against their arch rivals England in Bridgetown, Barbados on June 8.
