Australia won the first test match by a massive margin of 360 runs at Perth. Another landmark for Australia in this test match was Nathan Lyon’s 500 wickets as he became only third Australian after Great Glenn McGrah and Spin magician Shan Warne to cross 500-wickets milestone in their cricketing careers.
Everytime Pakistan cricket team plays a test match in Australia, they get a horrible defeat by Australia like this test match. Maybe the difference of pitches in both countries could be the one reason. Australian pitches are fast where bowlers get a lot of help off the pitch while pitches in Pakistan and in the subcontinent are slow in nature where it is easy for the batters to bat on.
Negatives for Pakistan Cricket Team:
-
As Shaheen Shah Afridi is leading Pak fast bowling, fans’ expectations were high that he will perform well in the first test match but he only managed to get 2 wickets in the match. Afridi always enjoyed bowling with premium fast bowlers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah but as they both are not available for this series which could be the one reason he is not finding his rhythm to bowl with full flow. While Pakistan’s debutant fast bowler Aamer Jamal has surely impressed many with his high quality performance specially in first innings where he took 6 wickets by giving 111 runs.
-
Babar Azam’s poor form with the bat continues. Many thought he was not performing before due to added pressure of captaincy but as now he is not captaining the team but still not performing is not understandable. Now with this poor performance people will start questioning his place in playing 11. Fans call him King Babar so he should live upto expectations before it gets too late for him.
-
The Test series in Australia is Shan Masood’s first assignment as a test captain and this type of big defeat will not help him rather it will get more tough for him to reunite the team from this stage.
Positives for Australian Cricket Team:
-
David Warner’s huge century in the first innings set the tone for the home side to win this first test match by a big margin. Warner made 164 runs in the first innings.
-
Usman Khawaja is also in very good form as he made 41 runs in the first innings while in second innings he managed to score 90 runs.
-
Mitchell Marsh is in good form as he performed well. For his all rounder performance he was rewarded with the Man of the Match award.
-
The Australian bowling department has performed exceptionally well in the Perth test match. Mitchell Starc bowled well for his 5 wickets while Hazelwood took 4 wickets.
-
Top story of the Town was Nathan Lyon’s crossing 500 wickets mark in this test match which is a great achievement and of course a dream of every bowler to reach this milestone.
