India vs South Africa 2nd odi

2nd odi was more of a repeat performance of 1st odi but this time was by opposite teams, as in first odi Indian cricket team won the match one sidedly but in the second South Africa outclassed Indian team in Gqebera Cricket Stadium. Indian batting was exposed on seam-support pitch. With this South Africa levelled the 3-match odi series 1-1.

Highlights of the 1st Innings:


South Africa won the toss and elected to field first

  • Indian openers were exposed to a pitch which was supporting seam bowlers and they did make it difficult to survive on this surface. 


  • Indian first wicket fell early as Ruturaj Gaikwad was out on just 4 runs. But thanks to Sai Sudarshan who played well for his 62 runs on 83 balls. 


  • Another solid contribution came from the skipper himself KL Rahul who scored a half century, he got out after making 56 runs on 64 balls. 


  • Wickets kept falling apart as the last 4 wickets just managed to add 42 runs in the total. 


  • Pick of the bowlers for the home side was Nandre Burger, who gave just 30 runs and took 3 wickets in his 10 overs.


  • The Indian team just managed to score 211 runs as they were all out in 47th over.


Highlights of the 2nd Innings:


  • South African openers started the chase with real intent to win the match as Reeza Hendricks and Tony de Zorzi laid the foundation to achieve this target of 212 runs. 


  • Reeza Hendricks got out after making his 50, his score was 52 runs on 81 balls. 


  • But top performer with magnificent odi hundred was Tony de Zorzi who remained not out and helped his side level the series 1-1. His innings was simply great as he scored 119 runs on 122 balls including 9 fours and 6 sixes.


  • Proteas chased the target in 43rd over with only 2 wickets down. 


  • South Africa won the match by 8 wickets with 45 balls remaining in the innings.


  • Of Course no surprises Man of the Match was given to well deserved Zorzi who impressed everyone with his great batting.
