As India’s present Cricket team Coach “Rahul Dravid” is about to complete his 3 years tenure at the end of ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. There were many rumours everywhere about who will be the next coach of India Cricket Team and now it seems like Board of Cricket Control India (BCCI) has finalised the name of Former Indian Left handed Opener “Gautam Gambhir” as a replacement of Rahul Dravid to coach Men’s Indian Cricket Team for all 3 formats in next 3 years from July 2024 till end of December 2027.
According to Indian Media Reports, Gambhir has been almost finalised by the BCCI. The final announcement will be made by the Indian Cricket Board in a few days time, most probably at the closing end of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Rahul Dravid in all 3 attempts failed to win ICC tournament including India losing inT20 World Cup 2022 semi final, then losing in ICC Test Championship Final and the latest India lost 50-overs World Cup 2023 from Australia in India.
Gambhir expressed his willingness to Coach Indian Team by saying that “It would be an honour for me to Coach India’s Cricket Team which definitely presents a chance to represent my country at International level”.
Gautam Gambhir Demands from BCCI:
It has been also reported that Gautam Gambhir has placed some demands like being Team’s Coach he will have full command on his playing Team while separate Teams for White and Red ball cricket. The Apex Cricket Board has agreed to his all these demands.
Curtains For Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in T20 Squad:
With this demand of separate teams for separate formats it is almost sure that this ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 would be the last for Indian Great batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as Gambhir will be getting in new talent especially in T20 Squad. Ravindra Jadeja would probably be the 3rd player to be out from the T20 Indian Squad.
Gautam Gambhir Achievements for India:
The left handed opener has played cricket for 13 years from 2003 till 2016. He played a critical role in winning the T20 World Cup 2007 for India which was in fact the first edition of the T20 world cup. In the final match against their arch-rivals Pakistan Gautum Gambhir made 75 runs on 54 balls to help India to win the first edition of the T20 World Cup in South Africa.
The 2nd biggest achievement for Gautum Gambhir is the 50-over World Cup 2011 which was played in India and also was won by India. Gambhir throughout this world cup played brilliantly as an opener. In the final match he made magnificent 97 runs on 122 balls.
In 2009, he was number 1 test player and ICC declared him as Test Player of the Year for the same time span.
Gautam Gambhir Achievements in Franchise Cricket:
Gambhir in IPL represented two teams Delhi Daredevils which is now with the name Delhi Capitals and 2nd team which turned out to be a lucky team for his t20 stats is Kolkata Knight Riders. He started his Ipl career from Delhi Daredevils team from 2008 to 2010 edition and then moved to Kolkata Knight Riders. In the 2012 IPL edition, Gautum Gambhir being captain of KKR showed his leadership skills to manage the first title win for his team.
Then in the 2014 IPL edition, he again won the title for Kolkata Knight Riders 2nd time as a captain.
Gautam Gambhir Achievement as a Mentor:
Recently in the last edition of India Premier League IPL, Gambhir was brought back to KKR team but not as a captain rather this time as a Team Mentor and what a choice by KKR management as Gambhir won this 3rd title for Kolkata Knight Riders and first as a Team Mentor in this 2024 edition.
This Achievement being mentor has definitely got attention of BCCI board members towards Gautum Gambhir who is now almost finalised as Indian Team New Coach for all 3 formats. And with his great cricket background which is full of achievement one must believe that Gambhir being Team India’s coach would be the perfect choice to put Team on the right track of glory and success in the world of Cricket.
