India will play 3-match T20i series with Afghanistan at their home starting from 11 January 2024. News of the town is Indian’s star batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be part of this india vs afghanistan t20i series as both featured in the shorter format back in November 2022, where India lost against England in T20i World Cup semi final match held in Australia.
According to Indian coach Rahul Dravid, Virat kohli will miss out 1st T20i match due to family reasons while he will play 2nd and 3rd match. Rohit Sharma will lead the side in this 3-match t20 series.
While Indian’s 2 young captains Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya are still recovering from injuries and therefore will not be part of this series
Afghanistan will miss Rashid Khan:
On Aghanistan side, they will be playing this series without their star bowler Rashid Khan as he is still going through recovery from back surgery which kept him away from the action since 50-over world cup 2023. Afghanistan skipper Ibrahim Zadran said, “Rashid is not totally fit but travelling with the team. Without Rashid we will miss his experience in this series but as this is a modern day cricket so one should be up for the challenge in any condition”. Zadran added, “The team hope to play positive cricket and show our skills on field”.
This three-match series between india vs afghanistan is very crucial for both the teams as they have to test their best possible combinations for up coming 2024 T20i world cup which will be played in West Indies and USA in June 2024.
